LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERVISOR HOLLY J. MITCHELL ENDORSES COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR SUPERVISOR

With Mitchell’s Support, Horvath Locks in Democratic Support from the LA County Board of Supervisors

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell announced her endorsement of Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath’s campaign for LA County Supervisor.

“The challenges we face cut across district lines and require a willingness to collaborate and lead with a shared commitment to ensuring that all residents can thrive,” said Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Holly J. Mitchell. “Lindsey has proven her ability to do just that which is why I am proud to endorse her for Supervisor. She is a progressive leader who understands the systemic issues impacting our County and is dedicated to achieving real solutions. I look forward to working with Lindsey on the Board in creating a more equitable LA County.”

Supervisor Mitchell serves as the Chair of the Board of Supervisors and represents the county’s 2nd Supervisorial District, which includes Carson, Compton, Culver City, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lynwood, parts of Los Angeles, and dozens of unincorporated communities. A Los Angeles City native, Mitchell is known for her unyielding advocacy for racial justice, criminal justice reform, economic justice and healthcare access. Her leadership, both in the public and private sectors, has been recognized by over 100 business groups and community leaders, including Oprah Winfrey for her O Magazine’s 2020 Visionaries. In 2020, she was elected to serve LA County’s 2nd Supervisorial District. She has also represented California’s 54th District as Assemblymember and California’s 30th District as State Senator in the State Legislature. There, she was the first African-American woman to serve as chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee. Prior to elected positions, Mitchell led the Crystal Stairs non-profit organization, which dedicates its work to child and family development and increasing access to child care for many families across LA County. With Mitchell’s endorsement, all four Democratic Supervisors on the Board support Horvath’s campaign.

“Supervisor Mitchell is an energetic and authentic leader deeply committed to diversity and equity in LA County,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “Her work has inspired many, including myself, to run for office and advocate for our shared values. I am so excited to work with Supervisor Mitchell on a bold agenda that will address racial and economic justice and serve all Angelenos throughout LA County.”

Supervisor Mitchell is the fourth current member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to endorse Lindsey Horvath’s campaign for Supervisorial Board District 3. District 1 Supervisor Hilda Solis, District 4 Supervisor Janice Hahn, and Incumbent District 3 Supervisor Sheila Kuehl have also endorsed Horvath’s campaign.
