CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS (FORMERLY CLCV) BACK COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR

Leading Statewide Environmental Advocacy Organization Throws Support Behind Horvath in Rare Local Endorsement

Los Angeles, CA– In a rare move, California Environmental Voters (also known as EnviroVoters, formerly the California League of Conservation Voters/CLCV) announced their endorsement of Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath’s campaign for Los Angeles County Supervisor. Prior to today’s endorsement announcement, the well-respected statewide climate justice organization rarely endorsed in local government races.

“Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath is not only the most qualified candidate in this race, she also has a meaningful track record of leading on clean energy and solving the climate crisis,” said Mike Young, Political Director of California Environmental Voters. “We are already feeling the devastating effects of a changing climate: extreme heat, mega drought, and intensifying wildfires. The issue is too urgent to elect her opponent, a politician who time and again aligned with corporate polluters over tackling our greatest environmental challenges. Because of this and more, we enthusiastically endorse Lindsey Horvath for Supervisor.”

Founded in 1972, EnviroVoters works to elect candidates who are environmentally responsible and hold them to their environmental agenda once elected. The organization conducts research at the end of each legislative year on the environmental performance of California State Legislators and the Governor for their Scorecard, which is made public to all California voters.

“I am so grateful to earn the endorsement of an organization that ensures those who are elected to serve their community ACTUALLY serve their community – and our planet,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “At this critical moment, their clear and consistent leadership on clean drinking water, clean air, fighting climate change, and creating a clean energy future will be an important asset to our County. I am eager to work with EnviroVoters and their endorsed elected leaders at the state level, who are just as committed to saving our planet, when I am elected County Supervisor.”
