MALIBU LEADERS RALLY BEHIND COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR

Malibu Councilmembers Mikke Pierson and Steve Uhring and Former Malibu Mayors Lou LaMonte, John Sibert and Laura Rosenthal Throw Support Behind Horvath

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Councilwoman and candidate for Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath secured the endorsements of Malibu Councilmembers Mikke Pierson and Steve Uhring as well as former Malibu Mayors Lou LaMonte, John Sibert, and Laura Rosenthal, adding to an impressive coalition of LA County elected officials and community leaders supporting Horvath’s campaign.

“I am truly inspired by Lindsey’s community-first approach to combating homelessness, promoting environmental resiliency and sustainability, and improving transportation,” said former Mayor Lou LaMonte. “As a former President of California Contract Cities Association, I saw how she leads on a regional level, bringing people together to get things done. In particular, I saw her take on the issue of short-term rentals and deliver results. I am proud to support Lindsey because not only does she have big dreams for LA County, but she has the skills to make them a reality.”

Lou LaMonte left an impressive legacy as Mayor of Malibu from 2012-2013 by remedying overcrowded alcohol rehabilitation facilities and increasing the city’s family-related amenities.

John Sibert, who served as Mayor in 2011-2012, also left a positive impact on the city, through financing the natural habitats of Legacy Park and remodeling City Hall, while constantly prioritizing public safety.

Laura Rosenthal, also a former Malibu mayor, dedicated her two terms to strong environmental stewardship, increasing community involvement and communication with residents. She continues her community-focused leadership on the board for LA County Library Foundation.

Councilmember Mikke Pierson was elected to the Malibu City Council in November 2018. An entrepreneur and business coach, Mikke Pierson previously served as Planning Commissioner and Public Works Commissioner, and has been focused on the local impacts of the homelessness crisis during his service on the City Council.

Elected in 2020, Councilmember Steve Uhring focuses on protecting and preserving the environment of Malibu. He served on the boards of the Malibu Coastal Land Conservancy, Malibu Community Action Network, Malibu Township Council, and the Malibu Community Alliance.

“I am grateful to have the support of Councilmembers Pierson and Uhring as well as former Mayors LaMonte, Sibert, and Rosenthal– all passionate and thoughtful leaders for Malibu and beyond,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “Keeping communities safe and ensuring residents have access to the best resources and reliable communication requires bold action at all levels of government. I look forward to working with them – and the residents of Malibu – to advance our shared goals as Supervisor.”
