O’Farrell Cancels Los Angeles City Council Meeting for Friday, October 14, 2022
Councilmembers Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo still have not resigned
LOS ANGELES — Acting Los Angeles City Council President Mitch O’Farrell today announced that he is canceling the regularly scheduled Council meeting for Friday, October 14, 2022, and he repeated his public calls on Councilmembers Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo to immediately resign from the Council following the fallout from leaked audio recordings.
“I stand with the people of Los Angeles, and we cannot heal until Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo resign from the City Council,” said Acting Council President O’Farrell. “Every moment that they delay will cause further pain and harm. They need to do the right thing. They need to resign – now.”
Councilwoman Nury Martinez resigned from the Council on Wednesday, a move O’Farrell said was the “necessary first step.”
If de Leon and Cedillo continue their refusals to resign, O’Farrell will assess all available options moving forward.
