SUNRISE MOVEMENT LOS ANGELES ENDORSES COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR
Horvath Consolidates the Environmental Vote with Nationwide Youth Movement Endorsement
LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the Sunrise Movement has announced their endorsement of local councilwoman and candidate for Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, further cementing her status as the environmental champion in this race.
“The time is up for politicians like Big Oil Bob, who sold our survival and our planet to corporate polluters for campaign cash,” said Sunrise Movement LA Political Lead Nico Gardner-Serna. “The climate crisis is here and the cost is already too high. We are tired of breathing polluted air, and drinking poisoned water. We are tired of a political and economic system that puts profits over people and sacrifices us to major corporations. It’s time for leaders with integrity who will actually serve the people and take on this biggest existential threat of our time – and it’s crucial for young people to turn out big to support Lindsey Horvath. We are proud to endorse her.”
Launched in 2017, the Sunrise Movement is a political action organization led by youth leaders fighting to stop climate change and elect leaders who will do the same. Members have been active nationwide, from organizing sit-ins to urging U.S. representatives to pass meaningful climate legislation, and inspiring other youth activists in the UK to take similar steps.
“This endorsement is particularly special to me,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “I am inspired by the bravery and fearlessness of our young leaders who know what is at stake in this race when it comes to our environmental goals. I am ready to partner with the members of Sunrise Movement to take on the climate crisis as Supervisor.”
