MAYOR ASHLEIGH AITKEN VISITS WASHINGTON D.C. TO ADVOCATE FOR ANAHEIM

Washington D.C. – Mayor Ashleigh Aitken is in Washington D.C. this week advocating for increased federal funding for Anaheim and meeting with mayors at the annual U.S. Conference of Mayors and California Big City Mayors meeting. As part of her work, Mayor Aitken will visit the White House and meet with leaders of several federal agencies and departments.

On Thursday, Mayor Aitken will address the Women Mayors Leadership Alliance. Mayor Aitken is the first female mayor in Anaheim’s 165-year history.

“An incredible amount of funding from recently enacted legislation is just starting to make its way to cities,” Aitken said. “It is critical that Anaheim sees its fair share to address roads, homelessness, affordable housing and other priorities for our residents, neighborhoods and businesses. The connections we are forging with our federal partners and fellow mayors will serve Anaheim in the months and years ahead.”

The federal government contributes more than $100 million annually to Anaheim in grants and funding for affordable housing, transportation, public safety, and community services. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction act have made additional funds available to cities like Anaheim.
