STATEMENT: AAPI Victory Alliance Elects Katie Nguyen Kalvoda as Board Chair

WASHINGTON — Today, AAPI Victory Alliance announced that Katie Kalvoda has been elected Board Chair for the organization.

Katie joins the AAPI Victory Alliance team with a wealth of experience as a social entrepreneur, impact investor and philanthropist for a range of social causes in California – spanning from boosting representation for AAPI women in local politics to securing health care access for marginalized communities.

AAPI Victory Alliance Vice Chair Luisa Blue issued the following statement:

We are thrilled to welcome Katie Kalvoda as AAPI Victory Alliance’s newest board chair, someone who I’ve worked with for many years doing civic engagement work. AAPI Victory Alliance will greatly benefit from having a well-established leader from the philanthropic community like Katie in our corner as our work bridges the gaps between elected officials and the AAPI community. Katie has made multiple contributions toward elevating AAPI voices and causes as a board member and we are excited for her to step into a leadership role as board chair.”

AAPI Victory Alliance Executive Director Varun Nikore issued the following statement:

I’m delighted that Katie is joining the AAPI Victory Alliance team. Katie comes to us at an integral time in our fight for racial equality as anti-Asian hate continues to rise nationwide. Her vast experience as a business leader, board member, and advocate for public health will be crucial going forward as we continue to call upon legislators and corporations to address the rising levels of gun violence in AAPI communities.”

AAPI Victory Alliance Board Chair-Elect Katie Kalvoda issued the following statement:

“It is an honor to become the next board chair for AAPI Victory Alliance and fight for causes that hit close to home. Asian Americans are the fastest-growing group in the country, yet we are still routinely overlooked in politics. I am eager to start this new leadership position and continue building collaborative engagements between AAPIs and community leaders.
