DPSS Invites Residents to Explore its Essential Services
Ensuring that every Los Angeles County resident can access necessary support in times of need, the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) has kickstarted its ‘August Essential Services Month’ campaign. This initiative aims to raise awareness and simplify the process of accessing and applying for vital benefit programs and services.
DPSS, being one of the 58 social services agencies in California, diligently administers a variety of supportive services. These include, but are not limited to, healthcare, nutrition assistance, temporary financial assistance, and employment services for families with minor children. Additionally, DPSS provides in-home care for residents who are blind, disabled, or aged 65 and older.
“Our goal is to make it easier for everyone to access and benefit from our vital services,” said DPSS Director Jackie Contreras.
To further enhance community engagement, Contreras emphasized that the department is inviting residents to follow DPSS on its various social media platforms and to sign up for the weekly ‘Essential DPSS’ newsletter. This digital publication offers additional insights and resources to help residents navigate their needs.
Moreover, DPSS urges residents to stay connected through the BenefitsCal enrollment site or visit the DPSS public website, which is available in 10 languages.
Essential Services Month also brings the opportunity to revisit the award-winning “What Is?” video series, which demystifies the process of applying for benefits, whether online, or at a DPSS office.
All DPSS communication platforms are committed to providing up-to-date news and valuable resources, including detailed listings of local job fairs, food distribution centers, and discounted utility and internet services.
