Supervisor Hahn Lowers County Flags in Honor of Los Padrinos Probation Officer

Downey, CA (September 8, 2023)– Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Janice Hahn has ordered that County flags at all County buildings be lowered to half-staff in memory of Probation Senior Detention Services Officer Stanley Guyness who passed away last night while on duty at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.

“Officer Guyness was a dedicated member of our Probation Department and we owe him a debt of gratitude for his commitment to what can be a difficult job,” said Chair Hahn.  “The Los Angeles County family mourns alongside Officer Guyness’ family, friends, and colleagues. May he rest in peace.”

The flags are to remain lowered until the end of the day of the scheduled funeral service.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Senior Detention Services Officer Guyness was working at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey when he collapsed. Probation employees rushed to his aid and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was transported to a local hospital. Hospital staff contacted the Probation management team at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall and informed them of his passing.
