California Adds 21,100 Jobs in July, Sets Record for Fast Food Employment

SACRAMENTO — California’s economy continues its robust growth, with Governor Gavin Newsom announcing that the state added 21,100 new jobs in July, marking the 51st consecutive month of job expansion. Notably, the state also recorded its highest-ever number of fast food jobs, surpassing 750,000 for the first time in history.

“Our consistent job growth in recent months underscores the resilience and strength of California’s economy, which remains the 5th largest in the world,” said Governor Newsom. “This year alone, we’ve added 126,500 jobs – a testament to the solid economic progress we’re making.”

Over the past 12 months, California has created a total of 284,400 new jobs, reflecting a 1.6 percent increase. The state’s unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2 percent in July. Among California’s eleven industry sectors, four saw job gains during the month.
