The International Leadership Foundation L.A. Chapter Hosts Thirteenth Annual Installation Luncheon

LAPost/Alhambra, CA, September 09, 2024 – The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) Los Angeles Chapter is set to host its Thirteenth Annual Installation Luncheon on September 14, 2024, at Almansor Court in Alhambra. This year’s theme, “Lead Myself, Then the Others”, highlights the importance of self-leadership as a precursor to leading and empowering others.

The luncheon will feature a keynote address by Alice Chen, CEO of 99 Ranch Market, one of the largest and fastest-growing Asian grocery chains in the U.S. Alice Chen, who joined 99 Ranch Market in 2007 as Chief Financial Officer, became CEO in 2018. During her leadership, the company has tripled in size, expanded into ten new states, and launched innovative services like same-day delivery and in-store pickup. Prior to joining 99 Ranch, Chen worked at Goldman Sachs in the Consumer Retail Group and the Commodity Sales and Trading Division. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Duke University.

Chen’s keynote is expected to touch on her personal journey in transforming the Asian food retail industry and her passion for food, education, and family. Alongside her business leadership, she is also a co-founder of Frontiers Academy, a trilingual immersion school in Costa Mesa, CA, offering education in Mandarin, Spanish, and English. She is an active mentor and advisor, serving on Columbia Business School’s Global Family Enterprise Program Advisory Board and as a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization.

The event will kick off with a Color Guard Presentation and the National Anthem before the luncheon program begins. Past speakers have included prominent figures such as Howard Kazanjian (producer of Star Wars films), Peter Guber (CEO of Mandalay Entertainment), Bill Rancic (entrepreneur), Janet Evans (Olympic gold medalist), Mitch Lowe (CEO of Netflix/Redbox), and Rob Minkoff (director of The Lion King).

The ILF, founded by Joel Szabat and Chiling Tong, is a non-profit organization that has been promoting civic engagement and leadership among the Asian-American community since 2000. The organization provides scholarships and leadership training to prepare young Asian Americans for leadership roles in public service, business, academia, and more. Programs like the Civic Fellowship Program, Youth Leadership Academy, and Global Exchange Program offer participants a wealth of opportunities, including internships, seminars, and discussions on topics like international business relations and public policy.

Co-chairs Judy Tsai and Dr. Jesse Hong will be leading the day’s proceedings, which promise to be both inspiring and informative for the attendees.
