“The rehabilitation and opening of 700 Simmons not only marks the success of the LA County Pilot Community Land Trust Partnership Program, but the transformative impact this program can have for families looking to secure permanently affordable housing, which is a challenge for many in my District,” said Supervisor Solis. “I am proud to have championed a series of motions in 2020 that initiated this pilot program. This project is a testament to the collective change we can make when we come together and present a daring and innovative way to address a longstanding housing crisis.”

In 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved a motion authored by Supervisor Solis, which ensured approximately $14 million for acquisition and rehab projects, including 700 Simmons. This transformative project is part of a county-wide pilot program implementing CLTs as an alternative ownership model to secure long-term affordable housing, promote community control, and prevent displacement.
