Supervisor Solis Joins Opening Celebration of Vincent Community Bikeways in the San Gabriel Valley

Covina, CA October 25, 2024 –Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis joined the long-awaited ribbon cutting celebration for the Vincent Community Bikeways Project, a project from the San Gabriel Valley Greenway Network Strategic Implementation Plan to transform Los Angeles County’s watershed areas into an interconnected network of bike paths, trails, and green spaces for all.

The Vincent Community Bikeways Project was made possible with the support of several state, regional, and community partners. It is a collective investment in the vision and transformation of Big Dalton Wash and neighboring streets. The $8 million dollar project delivers multiple community benefits including improved mobility and recreation options for people of all ages and abilities, the option for active transportation, and safe access to parks, jobs, schools, and shopping centers.

“I grew up in the neighboring community of Puente Valley and understand that for many of our families, access to green spaces or even a car for travel is not always possible,” said Supervisor Solis. “The completion of this bikeway project increases access to green spaces and encourages environmentally friendly alternatives to travel I am proud to see this collective commitment to provide a better quality of life for local residents in the San Gabriel Valley.”

The Vincent Community Bikeways Project, located at 4751 N Vincent Ave in Covina, consists of 4.5 miles of bikeways to connect people cycling between Vincent/Covina Islands, and the cities of Azusa, Covina, Irwindale, and West Covina. The zigzagging bikeway project spans from Citrus Ave in the east, to the southern tip of Irwindale Ave. The bikeways include high-visibility crosswalks and wayfinding signs, pocket parks at channel entrances, and landscaping along the bike path.
