SUPERVISOR HORVATH’S STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR NEWSOM’S HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT MODEL ORDINANCE
LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath shares the following statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s model ordinance released today regarding homeless encampments:
“We are extremely grateful for the State’s investments in housing and treatment. We must continue our partnership by ensuring programs like Homekey+ are not buried in red tape, so local governments can put the money to work. Right now, money is left on the table because of over-regulation and that’s unacceptable.
Los Angeles County is taking urgent action to restructure our homeless services for greater accountability and real results. Unless we remove the barriers to building housing and wrapping people in services, we will not break this cycle. Less bureaucracy—not more—is what’s needed to solve homelessness.”
