Solis Releases Statement on Next Steps to Uphold Voter Intent on Measures G and J

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 23, 2025)–  Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued the following statement in response to the unintended repeal of Measure J by the passage of Measure G, and the County’s next steps forward:

“Measures G and J, which were approved by the voters, represent remarkable strides towards greater representation and accountability in the County. I am very troubled by the serious administrative oversight that led to Measure J’s inadvertent repeal. We must correct this error to ensure the will of the voters is upheld.

The Board of Supervisors is currently awaiting the final reports outlining options to uphold the will of the voters. A public discussion on these reports is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd at the Board of Supervisors meeting. I remain steadfast in ensuring these public investments continue to center the needs of our most vulnerable communities.

Voters also sent a strong message in support of governance reform by passing Measure G. Measure G strengthens transparency and responsiveness in County government through expanded representation, paving the way for the possible election of the first Asian Pacific Islander Supervisor and increased Latino representation. In addition, Measure G establishes a new budget oversight, as well as a new independent Ethics Commission – tools that will improve our governance while upholding stronger transparency and accountability. We have a responsibility to honor the will of the voters and take the necessary steps to fully realize that vision.”
