Hahn Joins Sheriff Asking for Public’s Help Locating Armed and Dangerous Murder Suspect

Pico Rivera, CA (August 28, 2025) — Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is joining Sheriff Robert Luna in asking for the public’s assistance with information about the whereabouts of 20-year-old Andres Adan Chavez, a suspect wanted for the murder of a 13-year-old this weekend in Pico Rivera.
“In a senseless and unprovoked attack, this young man murdered a 13-year-old boy in front of his mother. He is considered armed and dangerous and we need the public’s help bringing him to justice and protecting the community,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn, who represents Pico Rivera. “If you know anything about the whereabouts of Andres Adan Chavez, I urge you to come forward. Even the smallest piece of information could help the Sheriff’s Department bring him into custody and prevent him from hurting more people.”
On Saturday, August 23, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Saith Israel Toledo Mendez was at a gas station with his mother, who was working her night shift as an attendant. After briefly visiting her, he was walking back to her car when a vehicle parked in the gas station. A passenger in the back seat—identified as 20-year-old Andres Adan Chavez—exited the car, drew a firearm, and, without provocation, shot Saith at close range. The suspect then stood over Saith and fired multiple additional rounds before fleeing on foot into a nearby residential area. Despite the best efforts of first responders, Saith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chavez is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him. Immediately dial 911.
Any member of the public with information about Chavez’s whereabouts is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at (323) 890-5500 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
