Solis Allocates 473 Laptops to San Gabriel Valley Schools Through ‘Operation Laptops’

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (October 2, 2025)– As part of her ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide, Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis allocated 473 laptops to students in the greater San Gabriel Valley through her Operation Laptops initiative.
Nearing completion of Operation Laptops, Chair Pro Tem Solis issued the following statement:
“As Supervisor for the First District, which includes the San Gabriel Valley, I’ve seen firsthand how essential digital access is for our students. In an increasingly digital-dependent world, it’s vital that every student, regardless of where they live, how much their family makes or where they come from, has what they need to develop their full academic and social potential. This is more than a laptop. This is about equipping our students with the tools they need to thrive.”
Through Operation Laptops, Solis allocated the devices to students at 47 schools, using $247,000 in First District discretionary funds. The initiative builds on her broader efforts to close the digital gap across Los Angeles County, including projects such as the Community Broadband Network pilot program in communities like East Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, and El Sereno.
Participating schools span 10 school districts and three local colleges, including:
- Rowland Unified School District
- Whittier City School District
- El Monte Union High School District
- Baldwin Park Unified School District
- Bassett Unified School District
- Whittier Union High School District
- Hacienda La Puente Unified School District
- Montebello Unified School District
- Mountain View School District
- Valle Lindo School District
- Citrus College, Mt. San Antonio College, and Rio Hondo College (Extended Opportunity Programs)
453 laptops have already been delivered to students, with the remaining 20 to be delivered in the coming weeks. A full list of all 47 schools is available here.
