Barger Commends Fall 2025 Graduates of LA County Library’s Career Online High School Program

Twelve residents from Los Angeles County’s Fifth District are among the more than 65 graduates being honored in the Fall 2025 commencement for the LA County Library’s Career Online High School program.

“Pursuing education at any stage of life is a powerful act of self-determination,” said Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger. “I applaud the perseverance and will of the graduates who have earned their high school diplomas. My message to each of you is straightforward: congratulations on taking this important step forward and keep aiming high. Your achievement is an inspiration to our entire community.”

Of those dozen graduates from the Fifth District, two are from Canyon Country and 10 are from the Antelope Valley region.

The Career Online High School program offers adults age 19 and older a free, fully online pathway to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate. The self-paced curriculum can be completed in as little as five months, or up to 18 months depending on previously earned credits. 

Students benefit from web-based coursework accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also receive individualized support from certified instructors, academic coaches and career mentors. Upon completion, graduates not only earn a diploma but also receive a career certificate in one of 10 high-demand fields, along with help in résumé writing and job search preparation. 

“These graduates have shown remarkable determination to balance work, family and life while pursuing their diploma online,” added Supervisor Barger. “Our County Library’s program is a model of how we can empower adult learners and open doors to opportunity. Our public libraries are much more than book lending. They are gateways to success.”

The LA County Library Career Online High School graduation will take place tomorrow, November 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Magic Johnson Recreation Center, located at 12645 Wadsworth Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90059.
