Solis Honors Veterans and Their Service at 9th Annual Veterans Day Event in East Los Angeles

EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis today hosted the 9th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony and Resource Fair in East Los Angeles, honoring the service and sacrifices of veterans and their families across Los Angeles County.
“Veterans Day is a treasured opportunity to honor those who have bravely served and sacrificed so much for our families and communities,” said Chair Pro Tem Solis. “At a time when our communities face unprecedented challenges, we are reminded that the strength of this nation lies in its people—including our veterans. Today and always, Los Angeles County stands with them.”
More than 300 veterans and their families participated in the day’s festivities, which featured a pinning ceremony recognizing local veterans, a resource fair connecting attendees with County departments and community organizations, and family-friendly activities including free meals, live music, and a petting zoo.
The event also paid special tribute to World War II veteran Carlos “Charlie” Rodriguez, one of the oldest living veterans in the United States at 105 years old, whose remarkable life and service inspired attendees and underscored the event’s theme of gratitude and community.
