LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis held her annual Operation Gobble Gobble, distributing 3,400 turkeys to 228 community and faith-based organizations to support families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. The initiative, held over two events—one in East Los Angeles and one in South El Monte—is part of Chair Pro Tem Solis’ ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and provide relief to families throughout the First District.
“Every year, I look forward to hosting this distribution so that some of our most vulnerable families can enjoy a little more comfort and joy during the holidays,” said Chair Pro Tem Solis. “This year, as many residents continue to face economic uncertainty and rising costs, I am especially grateful to provide some relief. Operation Gobble Gobble is more than just giving out turkeys. It reflects my commitment to community care, collaboration, and the spirit of giving.”

Now in its 11th year, Operation Gobble Gobble has become a cornerstone of Chair Pro Tem Solis’ community support initiatives. The program provides turkeys to pre-selected community-based organizations in the First District for distribution to families who need them most. By partnering with trusted local organizations, the initiative ensures that resources reach families efficiently and effectively.
This year’s partners included the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Northgate Markets, Suburban Water Systems, San Gabriel Valley Water Company, Hyundai, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and the City of South El Monte. Each partner played a critical role in sponsoring turkeys and organizing the events. The collaborative effort highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing hunger and supporting community well-being. Today’s events, along with other turkey distributions Chair Pro Tem Solis sponsored, marks the distribution of 5,000 turkeys across the First District.
