Solis Urges Residents to Prepare as Storm Approaches Los Angeles County
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued the following statement on the storm system expected to arrive tomorrow:
“As Los Angeles County prepares for a powerful storm system expected to arrive tomorrow, I want to urge residents to take this forecast seriously and prepare now. While this storm is not expected to be as intense as the atmospheric river we experienced in December, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and dangerous surf can still create serious hazards, including flooding and debris flows.
Los Angeles County is ready. Representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, and Office of Emergency Management are working together to prepare and keep our communities safe.
We are also taking steps to protect our most vulnerable residents. Our Department of Homeless Services and Housing is coordinating outreach to ensure individuals in high-risk areas are informed of available resources and connected to shelter during the storm. The County has activated motel vouchers to support augmented existing shelter, and outreach teams will continue active engagement and prioritize motel placements throughout the weekend.
Evacuation warnings are in effect for select parcels near areas burned in recent wildfires from 9 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026. Residents in those areas are urged to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate if an evacuation order is issued.
Los Angeles County will continue monitoring this storm closely and will be ready to respond should any emergency arise.”
