Solis Hosts Lunar New Year Reception, Celebrates AAPI Leaders, Organizations, and County Employees

HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. (March 6, 2026)— Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis hosted a reception today to celebrate the Lunar New Year, marking the start of the Year of the Horse and honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community leaders, organizations, and employee associations. The event brought together over 200 elected officials, distinguished guests, and residents to recognize the holiday’s cultural significance and its role in strengthening communities across the County.
The Lunar New Year is traditionally a time of renewal and prosperity. The Year of the Horse symbolizes transformative energy, forward momentum and decisive action.
“This Year of the Horse, we celebrate the dedication, resilience and momentum that guide our communities toward a more prosperous future,” said Chair Solis. “Lunar New Year is a time to honor our rich cultural traditions, as well as the individuals and organizations who lead with purpose and vision.”

The reception, hosted at the Hacienda Heights Community Center, featured a rendition of the National Anthem by the Nogales High School Choir, a traditional lion dance performed by Northern Shaolim Kung Fu Association, and a Chinese dance by Hongyun Dance Studio.
