The Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF)
The Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF) is back for sophomore year! The Festival is thrilled to bring you a selection of 12 amazing shorts and 2 fantastic features from the Taiwanese American and Taiwanese film-making community.
Last year the festival built from the ground up, and this year it is uniting all underdog communities like its through a homey slice of Taiwanese NIGHT MARKET life. TAFF presents 4 film + industry panel blocks – 吃,喝,玩,樂 (EAT, DRINK, PLAY, FUN) over 1.5 days served up with a d e l i c i o u s variety of night market food and drinks at our darewesay LIT parties.

Industry Panel – 4:40pm | $12
As a festival, we are committed to building bridges between the Taiwanese community and other minority communities. Given the seismic shift we have experienced with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, we have chosen to curate a panel of diverse women filmmakers for a discussion about who gets to tell what story and how we can shape a future for everyone.
>> ERIN LI | Taiwanese American writer, director, producer. Former Wall Street-er turned filmmaker. Commissioned to write THE COLONY, a sci-fi short inspired by the 1986 sci-fi drama THE FLY.
>> AURORA GUERRERO | Queer-identified Chicana filmmaker, debut feature MOSQUITA Y MARI screened at Sundance & Melbourne. Tapped to direct Ava Duvernay’s QUEEN SUGAR.
>> JEN MCGOWAN | Vulture’s Women Directors Hollywood Should Be Hiring. Creator of TV series, ANGELICA, the only American project for the MIPTV In Development program at Cannes 2018.
>> TINA MABRY | Producer, writer, director. Directing credits include: Netflix’s DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, ABC’s THE MAYOR, HBO’s INSECURE, STARZ’s POWER and FX’s POSE.
>> JADE PUGA | Writer, actress, filmmaker of Guachichil, Huastec Mexican and Lipan Apache descent. Creator of trending development project on The Black List, a feature historical drama.
>> MARY-LYN CHAMBERS (Moderator) | Award-winning Fijian/New Zealander filmmaker and directing Fellow at both the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program and Film Independent’s Project Involve.
