Shandong to boost AI industry development

The Shandong provincial government convened a news conference on May 23 to detail the guideline document which was recently launched to promote the province’s integration development of modern industries and artificial intelligence.

This is the first official document related to “AI +” strategy issued by the provincial government in China.

The first batch of 150 pilot demonstration enterprises and projects related to the field was also released, which involved a total investment of 27.58 billion yuan ($3.97 billion).

According to an official from the Shandong provincial department of industry and information technology, the province will build an AI industry ecological chain, accelerating the development of new business forms and new models based on industry integration and AI to make the smart tech sector an important new economic growth point by 2022.

By 2025, the province’s AI industry will take the leading position in the country, which shares an integrative development with Shandong’s other leading industries and becoming an influential industrial cluster in the country and even in the world.

AI is wide-ranging branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks the typically require human intelligence. The rapid adoption of AI in related industries such as retail, healthcare, and automotive is expected to augment market growth over the forecast period.
