2019 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival
As the annual kids’ film industry event, the 2019 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival will be hosted between August 23rd to August 25th in Carlsbad. Every summer, filmmakers worldwide gather in beautiful south California for this unforgettable film event.
The SDIKFF has been doing its best to provide a professional platform for young filmmakers from kids under 14, to youths 14 to 17, and to adults 18 and over. The filmmakers submit, display, and compete their talents and works at the three-day event. This year, the SDIKFF received more than 150 films from over 30 countries. Filmmakers from all over the world will attend the festival and meet the audience after the screening for a brief Q&A session. This year’s opening films are “The Last Fiction”, a feature film from Iran, and “Chocolate Chip Cookies”, a short film from the USA.
At the opening gala, Jenna Pekny will sing the national anthem to kickoff this year’s event. The SDIKFF’s youth ambassador, Chalet Lizette Brannan, and local youth actor Zander Rice will be this year’s hosts. Larry Poole will represent the San Diego film maker’s welcome to the international film makers. All of the filmmakers will receive their official selection certificates from the SDIKFF and enjoy the live performances.
The one and only Family Film Market was created in 2016. It is open to everyone in the film industry and it provides the opportunity to fulfill all film-business needs, including but not limited to: film sales, investments, all aspects of film production, locations, and post-production.
The SDIKFF also prepared panels for different film themes. With Hollywood professionals as panel speakers, both filmmakers and the audience have the opportunity to get close to the stars in the industry and learn about experiences and how to start from the beginning and make it to the top. The panel speakers are Fred Ashman; Antonio F. Vianna, Jesse Saunders, Shenglei Wang, Michael Matteo Rossi, Giovannie Espiritu, and more.
In honor of the finalist of the screenplay contest, the SDIKFF uses the real director who cast the actors to perform the best parts of the screenplays. This showcase brings the story from paper to real life. This year, local San Diego director Brian Keon will lead the showcase during the Saturday night reception gala.
The red-carpet award ceremony is also a signature event of the SDIKFF. To show our appreciation and respect to all the young filmmakers, the SDIKFF invites the officially selected filmmakers to walk on the red-carpet with family members. The red-carpet hosts are Matthew Eli and Isabelle Hu. Major local media will also interview the filmmakers on the red-carpet. The stardust award ceremony will have the hosts: Carolina de Athey, Damian De Langeron, Robert Gatewood, and Vita Tory.
