COSTA MESA, CA – Reinforcing her status as the clear choice in the race for State Senate District 37 among leading women’s organizations, Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley announced today that she was endorsed by the California National Organization for Women (CA NOW)
In a statement released following the announced endorsement, Kolieka Seigle, President of CA NOW said,
“The perfect candidate to defeat John Moorlach is a woman, and her name is Katrina Foley. As a public servant with more than 15 years of experience, including as Costa Mesa’s first directly elected mayor, she has demonstrated her ability to implement California’s progressive agenda. Mayor Foley has shattered the glass ceiling time after time. She was instrumental in helping elect two young women to the City Council, making it a female majority for the first time; she appointed the city’s first female city manager; and she hired the first female energy and sustainability services manager. California NOW couldn’t ask for a stronger candidate to support.”
– Kolieka Seigle, President of CA NOW
“I am deeply honored to receive the support of California NOW,” said Katrina Foley. “I am proud to share California NOW’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment. I am looking forward to continuing to work with California NOW and other organizations in standing up for a woman’s right to choose, equality in the workplace and society, and greater representation for all women.”
The momentum behind Foley’s campaign has continued to swell, particularly in recent weeks with Foley securing a vast array of endorsements from some of California’s key organizations and leaders. They include the California Labor Federation, the California Highway Patrol, the California Professional Firefighters, EMILY’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Fund Her, Congressman Harley Rouda, Senators Connie Leyva, Lena Gonzales and Cathleen Galgiani, Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris and others.
The Primary election will be held on March 3, 2020.
