CONTRERAS ENDORSED BY CA STATE TREASURER IN OC SUPERVISOR BID
State Treasurer Fiona Ma Backs Westminster Councilman Sergio Contreras in Race for Orange County Board of Supervisors
WESTMINSTER, CA — In yet another testament to his wide-ranging support from prominent California leaders in his bid for Orange County’s First Supervisorial District, today Westminster Councilmember Sergio Contreras earned a powerful endorsement from California State Treasurer Fiona Ma.
In announcing her backing of Contreras’s campaign, State Treasurer Ma released the following statement:
“I’m thrilled to endorse Sergio Contreras for Orange County Supervisor, because he has the common-sense, experience, and forward-thinking vision to help Orange County navigate through this crisis. As a Westminster City Councilmember and former school board member, Sergio has proven himself as an effective leader for the people he represents, ensuring frontline workers have the PPE and other resources they need, improving opportunities for local students, and combatting homelessness. I know Sergio will do the same on the Board of Supervisors, and I look forward to helping him get elected.”
Orange County’s First District of the Board of Supervisors continues to be a ripe red-to-blue flip opportunity for Democrats. In the 2020 primary for the First District, Democratic candidates finished with 57.7% of the vote to the Republicans 42.3%. In terms of voter registration, Democrats hold a 19 point advantage over Republicans, making up 44% of all registered voters in the First District.
