COMPTON COURTHOUSE TO REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2 AS THE COURT WORKS TO REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED BY FLOOD
Matters Scheduled to be Heard in Compton Through February 2
Will Be Temporarily Reassigned to Other Courthouses
The Compton Courthouse, located at 200 W. Compton Blvd., Compton, will remain closed through Friday, February 2 as a result of damage incurred to the courthouse’s public spaces, jury assembly room, and public elevator systems, which were rendered inoperable, because of a significant indoor flood that occurred over the weekend. This is the second time in less than a month that a flood caused by a pipe failure has impacted court operations at the Compton Courthouse.
The Court continues to work with partners at the Judicial Council of California, who own and operate the facility, to reopen the Compton Courthouse as quickly as possible. Currently, there is no estimated time for reopening.
Litigants with matters calendared in Compton Courthouse departments through February 2 should consult the table below regarding temporary reassignment information. Parties in all cases will be notified of any transfers or continuances either by counsel or in person should they visit the Compton Courthouse. Parties not notified by counsel or in person will be sent formal notices via the U.S. mail. Parties may also check the status of their case by calling (310) 761-4300 for assistance. Court staff remain available during business hours for assistance in the lobby of the Compton Courthouse.
