Councilmember Park Commends Unanimous Approval for Grants Pass Report Back
Los Angeles, CA – Councilmember Park today expressed satisfaction following the unanimous approval of her request for a report back from the City Attorney’s office regarding the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Los Angeles’ right to maintain health, safety, and accessibility on its sidewalks and public spaces.
“In the two months since the Supreme Court affirmed Los Angeles’ right to protect health, safety, and accessibility on its sidewalks and public spaces, cities across our region have taken action, updating their laws to effectively address encampments, while Los Angeles has not reassessed a single rule,” said Councilmember Park. “I’m pleased that my request for a report back from our City Attorney was approved unanimously so that we can get the information we need to chart a path forward in the aftermath of Grants Pass.”
The approval of this report back is seen as a critical step in ensuring that Los Angeles can effectively address the challenges posed by encampments while maintaining the safety and accessibility of public spaces for all residents. The report is expected to provide the necessary information to guide the city’s actions in response to the Supreme Court’s decision. (By: Richard/Ren LAPost )
