Los Angeles South Bay Volunteers start actions to support John Chiang
(April 29, 2018, Lomita) On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, a group of enthusiastic supporters of California Treasurer John Chiang gathered in Lomita to conduct a phone bank for Chiang who is running for California Governor on June 5, 2018.
They made about 1,500 phone calls in four hours. Most of them are first-time volunteers and have never called on strangers to vote. They believe Treasurer Chiang is the most qualified, has the utmost integrity, and works the hardest for the CA people among all Gubernatorial candidates.
These supporters have a wide range of background and age including Thomas Chan, a retired lawyer and David Yu, a physicist who are in their 60’s and 70’s, Laura Wang, Jaqueline Chiu and Katie Zhan, high school students in Palos Verdes, Ran Jiang, a college student from San Diego, Monica Chen, a member of Asian Americans Democratic Club, Connie Sullivan, a member of PV Democratic Club, Lynn Tang, a movie producer and film festival organizer, as well as Cecilia Yu, Lin Cummings, Matt Huang, and Deborah Meng, residents of Palos Verdes.
They brought their own laptops and phones , Deborah Meng prepared the cupcakes and waters, They have one target in common trying their best to get more voters to know John. From them, you can tell not all Chinese American no political sense in America society.
Deborah said, they will keep doing the phone bank and door knocking from now on, also they invite more local Chinese American join the team working together.
Chiang’s campaign has not courted the special interest groups like big corporations, wealthy donors, and the marijuana industry. Chaing’s clean image and fiscal responsible focus motivate the first time political volunteers to join Chiang’s grass root campaign efforts to reach voters.
