CalSTA Achieves Historic Breakthroughs, Paving the Way for Safer, Cleaner and More Connected Mobility

SACRAMENTO – The California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) today released its 2025 Accomplishments Report, highlighting a year of transformative progress toward building a transportation system that is safe, equitable and sustainable. CalSTA and its eight departments delivered measurable results that will shape mobility for generations to come.
Key Highlights from 2025:

  • Safety: Traffic fatalities dropped by 38%, saving 1,558 lives; launched the Secretary’s Policy on Road Safety to embed a Safe System Approach statewide.
  • Equity: Expanded Clean California, removing 3.4 million cubic yards of litter, funding 314 community projects and creating 18,000+ jobs; Caltrans graduated 82 protégés through its Construction Mentor Protégé Program.
  • Climate Action: Released CAPTI 2.0 with 14 new actions to align transportation investments with climate and equity goals; 94% of Californians now live within 10 minutes of an EV fast charger.
  • Economic Prosperity: Allocated $13.7 billion to projects creating 150,000 jobs; High-Speed Rail construction reached 171 miles, generating 16,300+ jobs and $22 billion in economic activity statewide.
