Solis Honors the Contributions of Working Families on Labor Day
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued the following statement on Labor Day:
“Today, we honor the workers who keep Los Angeles County moving and make our communities stronger every day. From teachers and nurses to construction workers, first responders, service workers, small business owners and public employees, they show up every day for their families and their communities.
Labor Day is also a reminder that many of the workplace rights and protections we rely on today were won by generations of workers who organized and stood together for fair wages, safer workplaces and the chance to build a better life.
As a former U.S. Secretary of Labor, I know those gains cannot be taken for granted. We must continue standing with working families, protecting workers’ rights and making sure hard work leads to economic opportunity. That is how we honor the generations who fought for a better future and keep building one for those who come next.”
