Orange County Asian American Leaders Meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

Friday, June 19, 2020 – HUNTINGTON BEACH – Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Asian American elected officials and community leaders to discuss important issues to the community.

In attendance were Senator Ling Ling Chang of Diamond Bar, Supervisor Michelle Park Steel of Seal Beach, Assemblyman Vince Fong of Bakersfield, Assemblyman Steven Choi of Irvine, Councilman Anthony Kuo of Irvine, Mayor Tri Ta of Westminster, and former Assemblywoman Young Kim, as well as representatives from Asian American organizations such as Marc Ang and Betty Tom Chu of Asian Industry B2B (AIB2B) and Chinese American Citizens Alliance Orange County (C.A.C.A. OC), Joseph Joseph of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce Orange County (FACCOC) and Linda Nguyen of the Asian Business Association of Orange County (ABAOC).

This event was organized by Asian Industry B2B Ambassador and community leader in her own right, Suzanna Tashiro Choi, of the Tashiro Choi & Associates. It was held at the Hilton Waterfront hotel in Huntington Beach.

Topics included foreign policy and the integrating of trade with the rest of Asia, such as the rising Vietnam, which was highlighted by Mayor Tri Ta.  AIB2B and C.A.C.A Orange County president Marc Ang expressed support for the administration’s China policy, emphasizing the need for an evening of the playing field, and the importance of fair media coverage from Chinese outlets in the San Gabriel Valley.  39th Congressional District candidate Young Kim spoke about North Korea relations, while Secretary of State Pompeo expressed thoughtfulness on responding with depth to the various affairs and concerns of the community.
