Country Supervisor Kathryn Featuring: Lunar New Year
Happy Lunar New Year! Tuesday marked the start of the Year of the Pig, which is a symbol of wealth and good fortune. One ancient Chinese proverb says, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” May the start of this next year symbolize the first step of thousands we take to become a more prosperous, charitable, and successful county.
At our Board of Supervisors meeting this week, we welcomed mayors and city council members from cities in the San Gabriel Valley who are home to Chinese-American populations. It’s truly an honor to be the supervisor for the district with the largest number of Chinese people across Los Angeles County. We also celebrated with more festivities at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel on Thursday, and I plan to attend the Chinese Chamber’s Golden Dragon Parade on Saturday. I encourage you to celebrate this rich cultural tradition this weekend, too!
