REP. CISNEROS VOTES ON LEGISLATION TO SUPPORT OUR PEACE OFFICERS

May 15, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) voted in support of H.R. 2379, a bill to reauthorize the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program.

“I am proud to have cast my vote in favor of reauthorizing the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program during National Police Week,” said Rep. Cisneros. “Our first responders risk their lives every day to safeguard our communities and we need to give them the resources they need to do their jobs well. I am glad that both sides of aisle are able to come together to support our public safety officers.”

The Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program reauthorization bill was introduced by Rep. Pascrell (D-NJ), Rep. King (R-NY), Rep. Demings (D-FL), Rep. Collins (R-GA), and Rep. Fitzpatrick (R-PA). This bill received unanimous bipartisan support.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. This bill will now be referred to the Senate.
