CA State Senator Josh Newman Endorses Joe Kerr for Supervisor
Mission Viejo, CA – Today State Senator Josh Newman announced his endorsement for Joe Kerr’s campaign for Orange County Supervisor. Retired Orange County Fire Captain Joe Kerr is running in the open-seat contest for the 5th Supervisorial District.
Senator Newman released the following statement announcing his endorsement:
“I’m standing behind Joe Kerr for Supervisor because he isn’t afraid to make tough decisions and do what he thinks is right. For more than thirty years, Orange County residents have counted on Joe Kerr’s leadership as a fire captain and first responder, and he has never let us down. I know Joe will continue to fight for the values we share and deliver results on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.”
Josh Newman is a United States Army veteran, community activist, non-profit founder, and State Senator for the 29th Senate district of California. A graduate of Yale, Senator Newman has been motivated by public service his whole life.
Joe Kerr is a second-generation professional firefighter who served with the Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Fire Department for over 34 years, including 27 years as a fire captain. He was the first President of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, the former Vice President of the California Professional Firefighters, as well as a former Vice President of the Orange County Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO).
Joe’s history of community service includes having served as an advisor to the Board of the Orange County Foundation for Oncology, Children and Families (OCF-OCF).
Joe grew up in Orange County. He and his wife, China, are the proud parents of a 17-year-old son.
