Los Angeles, CA (January 14, 2025) – Yesterday, Los Angeles County Supervisor and Chair Pro Tem Hilda L. Solis connected with veterans at the Veterans AJCC Bob Hope Patriotic Hall, which has been repurposed as an emergency evacuation center as of Sunday, January 12, in response to the wildfire emergency. In collaboration with the American Red Cross, this site has already received over 105 veterans from evacuation warning zones and is dedicated to ensuring those impacted by the ongoing fires receive appropriate care and resources.

Chair Pro Tem Solis, speaking to volunteers on site, provided hearty warm meals, along with water and fruit, with support from Chef Basil Kimbrew, award-winning chef and local Army veteran. Additional resources available at this evacuation site include support from the Los Angeles County Departments of Mental Health and Military and Veterans Affairs.

Chair Pro Tem Solis issued the following statement:

“The wildfires that began last week continue to disrupt and displace entire communities, including our veterans,” said Chair Pro Tem Solis. “We must not forget that everyone, whether directly in the line of fire or in its proximity, is feeling the impact. It is our duty to ensure the safety of veterans in Los Angeles County. I am grateful that Bob Hope Patriotic Hall can continue to serve our veterans, especially during these unprecedented times.”
