“Sing Cantonese Shine Strong” — Los Angeles Chapter Finals Conclude with Great Success
LAPost/Los Angeles, Ca (November 3rd, 2025) – The Los Angeles Finals of the “Sing Cantonese Shine Strong” Global Cantonese Singing Competition were successfully held at the HTTV TV Studio in Pasadena, California, bringing together outstanding Cantonese singers from across the region for a night of music, passion, and cultural pride. 
Hosted by the Guangdong Guangfu Zhuji Lane Descendants Overseas Friendship Association and the Guangzhou Performing Artists Association, and co-organized by the American International Music & Arts Center and the Cantonese Society of Southern California, the event celebrated the beauty of Cantonese music and Guangfu heritage.
The ceremony was graced by leaders and scholars from the UCLA Asia Pacific Center, UCLA Cantonese Preservation Program, and various community organizations. Mei Ning梅宁 President of the Cantonese Society of Southern California, delivered a joint address with Professor Zhang Jingjue of UCLA, emphasizing that Cantonese is “the soul of Guangfu culture — a bridge connecting roots and generations.”
After several competitive rounds, 15 talented finalists took the stage, impressing the judges with their skill and emotion. Chair Member Xue Hanwen and Youth Committee President Wendy Wang 王温蒂 of the Cantonese Society of Southern California presented the Best Stage Presence Award to Rong Xiaojie, while Ma Shurong, Honorary President of the Guangdong Guangfu Zhuji Lane Descendants Overseas Friendship Association, awarded the Champion Title to Liu Chong, who will represent Los Angeles at the Global Finals in Guangzhou.
Huang Xuewen, head of the American International Music & Arts Center, added, “Through ‘Sing Cantonese Shine Strong,’ we rediscover our native sound and let the world hear the voices of the Guangfu people.”
The UCLA Asia Pacific Center, UCLA Cantonese Preservation Team, and the Cantonese Society of Southern California jointly presented the “Guangfu Cultural Promotion Award” to recognize contributions in preserving Cantonese culture.
