Registration Opens for 2026 Griffith Park Run Half Marathon & 5K, Supporting L.A. Parks
LAPost | Los Angeles, CA (January 6, 2026) — Registration is now open for the annual Griffith Park Run Half Marathon & 5K, set to take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in one of Los Angeles’ most iconic urban parks. The family-friendly event partially benefits the Los Angeles Parks Foundation, supporting efforts to maintain and enhance the city’s public parks and open spaces.
Established in 2008, the Los Angeles Parks Foundation works to preserve and improve parks and recreational areas across the city, ensuring they remain accessible, welcoming, and vibrant for Los Angeles’ diverse communities. Proceeds from the Griffith Park Run help advance this mission by directly contributing to park stewardship and community programs.
The Griffith Park Run welcomes participants of all abilities, from elite runners and competitive racers to casual joggers and walkers. The Half Marathon, starting at 7:30 a.m., offers a unique course that traverses all the main trails of Griffith Park, guiding runners past well-known landmarks such as the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round and the Autry Museum of the American West. The 5K, beginning at 10:00 a.m., features a scenic, flat, and shaded route ideal for families and first-time participants.
New for 2026, the event introduces a particularly popular addition: dogs are officially welcome to register and run alongside their owners in the 5K, adding to the event’s inclusive and community-oriented atmosphere.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative medal, a premium event T-shirt, and access to sampling booths, food trucks, and raffle prizes at the event expo. The start/finish line and expo will be located near the Autry Museum, with ample free public parking available throughout Griffith Park. Participants are encouraged to follow posted RunGPR parking signs when entering from Crystal Springs Road.
The 2025 event drew approximately 1,000 participants, reflecting the growing popularity of the Griffith Park Run as both a competitive race and a feel-good community gathering that celebrates health, nature, and civic engagement.
