Premio Lo Nuestro 2026 Makes History by Announcing Five Special Awards Celebrating the Enduring Impact of Latin Music

Arcángel, Juanes, Los Bukis, Manolo Díaz, and Paloma San Basilio Will be Honored During the February 19 Awards Ceremony.

MIAMI – January 26, 2026 – For the first time in its history, Premio Lo Nuestro will present five special awards honoring iconic figures in Latin music whose legacies continue to shape the history and evolution of the genre. These special awards celebrate careers, vision, and contributions that have transcended generations and continue to influence the present and future of the Latin music landscape. Premio Lo Nuestro 2026 will air LIVE February 19 at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT on Univision, UNIMÁS, and Galavisión in the U.S. and will stream across most Latin American countries on ViX.

The Premio Lo Nuestro Urban Icon Award will be presented to Arcángel, one of the most influential figures in the history and evolution of Latin urban music. With more than three decades in the industry, he has been a witness to, protagonist of and driving force behind a movement that transformed global music culture. His unmistakable voice, authentic style, and artistic vision have influenced multiple generations, cementing his status as a trailblazer who honors the genre’s roots while continuing to shape its future. This year, Arcángel also earns four Premio Lo Nuestro 2026 nominations, including Male Artist of the Year – Urban, reaffirming his continued relevance and leadership within the genre.

 

The Premio Lo Nuestro Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Juanes, an artist whose career has been defined by authenticity, constant evolution and a deep connection to his roots. From his early beginnings to becoming a global Latin music icon, Juanes has bridged generations, genres and cultures, delivering messages of identity, sensitivity, and social awareness on stages around the world. His body of work represents a committed artistic voice that has remained relevant over time. Juanes receives two nominations this year and is also the recipient of 14 Premio Lo Nuestro awards, solidifying one of the most influential careers in Spanish-language music.

 

The Premio Lo Nuestro Musical Legacy Award will be presented to Los Bukis, whose music has accompanied generations and remains an essential part of Latin music’s emotional heritage. From their beginnings in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, to becoming icons of romantic ballads with hits such as “Tu cárcel,” “Quiéreme,” and “Presiento que voy a llorar,” the group has shown constant evolution while preserving its identity. Winners of nine Premio Lo Nuestro awards and renowned for filling the most important stages across Mexico and the United States, their legacy represents the identity and tradition of Latin music’s roots.

 

The Premio Lo Nuestro Visionary Award will honor Manolo Díaz, a key figure behind countless careers, songs, and defining moments in the history of Latin music. His creative vision, artistic intuition and commitment to talent development have left a profound mark on the industry, establishing him as one of the great architects of the sound that defines Spanish-language music.

 

The Premio Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence will honor Paloma San Basilio, whose career has left a profound mark on music, theater, and Ibero-American culture. With more than 50 years of artistic trajectory, over 16 million records sold, and a distinctive voice that has shaped the history of Spanish-language music, Paloma has established herself as a timeless and influential artistic presence. A leading figure in iconic musicals such as Evita,” “Sunset Boulevard” and “My Fair Lady” and the recipient of honors including the Grammy Award for Musical Excellence and Spain’s Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts, her legacy represents a dedication to an art form that transcends trends and generations, reaffirming excellence as a cultural identity.
