Supervisor Kathryn Barger Announces Community Soccer Viewing Event in Antelope Valley as World Cup Kicks Off

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is inviting residents and families from across the Antelope Valley to come together for a free community soccer viewing party on Friday, June 12, as the FIFA World Cup begins and Team USA takes on Paraguay in its opening match.
“Community events like this bring people together in a positive and fun environment, and I believe that is more important now than ever,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Sports have a unique way of uniting people across backgrounds and generations. Creating opportunities for connection helps strengthen our communities at a time when our county and our country need unity.”
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will host the soccer viewing party at Stephen Sorensen Park, located at 16801 E Avenue P, Palmdale, CA 93591.
While kickoff between the United States and Paraguay is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with youth soccer clinics and other free family-friendly activities. The match will be broadcast on a large outdoor screen, allowing attendees to cheer together in a fun community setting.
Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of soccer, family activities, and community spirit. Admission is free and open to the public.
