Freedom Through Expungement 2026

Compton, CA – Today, the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, in partnership with the City of Compton and Mayor Emma Sharif, hosted the Freedom Through Expungement Resource Fair at the Dollarhide Community Center.

The free event connected eligible community members with expungement services and legal guidance to help clear qualifying criminal records while also providing access to local organizations offering employment, education, health, housing, and other supportive services.

“Each year, our Freedom Through Expungement Resource Fair is a reminder that when we come together as a community, we can help remove barriers and create new opportunities,” said Los Angeles County Public Defender Ricardo D. García. “We’re proud to continue our partnership with the City of Compton to connect people with the resources they need to move forward. Expungement is about more than clearing a record. It’s about investing in our neighbors, strengthening our communities, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to build the future they deserve.”

“Providing second chances helps build a stronger community,” said Compton Mayor Emma Sharif. “This event has been an invaluable resource for Compton residents, and we remain committed to supporting opportunities that empower people to succeed.”
