Solis Issues Statement on Legal Action Challenging Federal Interference in California Elections

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis today issued the following statement following the announcement that several congressional leaders are joining the State of California in taking legal action against the federal government over its unprecedented interference in California’s elections:

“I applaud congressional leaders for joining the State of California and Los Angeles County in the fight against the Trump administration’s unprecedented overreach into election administration. Los Angeles County has always been committed to upholding the integrity of our voting systems, including conducting fair, accessible, accurate and secure elections. The threats against our election officials and voters are a blatant attempt to coerce public servants and intimidate voters from exercising their most fundamental right. Free and fair elections are a cornerstone of our democracy, and we must do everything in our power to protect this vital function in November.”
