NORTH WHITTIER, Calif. – Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem Hilda L. Solis today visited unincorporated North Whittier to see the newly installed community signs that celebrate local identity and pride.

Championing this effort, Chair Pro Tem Solis invested $26,000 in County Transportation Funds (Special Road District Funds) to make the signs possible. The signs were designed by the County’s Department of Public Works in partnership with residents and the North Whittier Neighborhood Watch Avocado Heights Association following extensive community input and outreach.

Chair Pro Tem Solis joined members of the North Whittier Neighborhood Watch Avocado Heights Association for a photo opportunity at the corner of Workman Mill Road and Lomitas Avenue, where one of the new signs for North Whittier is located.

“These signs reflect the pride and unity that define North Whittier and Avocado Heights,” said Chair Pro Tem Solis. “This investment helps strengthen community identity and ensures residents feel seen and valued. I am thankful to the residents and partners who made this possible.”

North Whittier is a small unincorporated community located between the cities of Whittier, Pico Rivera, and the City of Industry. Avocado Heights is a unique and close-knit community celebrated for its rural charm and equestrian traditions.

In total, four signs were installed, two in Avocado Heights and two in North Whittier, each representing the community’s shared values and sense of place.
