Solis Marks Opening of Dr. Beatriz Solis Memorial Park, Honoring Sister’s Legacy

Solis at Park

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued the following statement today on the grand opening of the Dr. Beatriz Solis Memorial Park, located at 2006 Berkshire Avenue in South Pasadena:

“Dr. Beatriz Solis was not only a nationally respected public health leader. She was my sister and one of the most compassionate and selfless people I have ever known. Bea, as our family called her, dedicated her life to advancing health equity and justice, believing deeply that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life. The Dr. Beatriz Solis Memorial Park is a fitting tribute to her legacy, creating a space for connection, wellness, and community. I am proud that County Measure A funds, which I helped champion, made this park possible, and I am grateful to the City of South Pasadena for recognizing Bea’s lifelong commitment to service, equity, and love for community.”

Dr. Solis earned both her master’s and doctorate degrees in public health from UCLA and was widely recognized for her leadership at The California Endowment, where she helped advance statewide efforts to improve health outcomes in underserved communities. Her work centered on empowering residents to shape the policies that affect their lives, and her legacy continues through the Dr. Beatriz Maria Solis Policy Institute and the many leaders she mentored.
