18 Years Across a Global Landscape — Energy Innovation and the International Journey of Guangying New Energy Founder Cheng Ning

LAPost / San Diego, Ca (Feb. 26, 2026) From Shenzhen Special Economic Zone to establishing a foothold in Southern California, Cheng Ning, Founder and CEO of Guangying New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., is charting a Chinese entrepreneur’s path onto the global new-energy stage. Recently, Cheng attended North America’s premier solar, energy storage, EV infrastructure, and manufacturing industry gathering — Intersolar & Energy Storage North America (IESNA) — in San Diego, where she gave an exclusive interview to LAPost, sharing insights from her 18 years of experience in batteries and the new-energy sector.

Starting with Battery Trade: Building Core Capabilities Through Practice

Cheng began her entrepreneurial journey in late 2012, rooted in the global battery trading market. Amid intense international competition, she realized that relying solely on trading would not create sustainable barriers.

“I understood early on that companies must control product definition,” Cheng said. In the early days, she self-taught product development and graphic design to meet business needs, expanding from sales into R&D and branding — laying the groundwork for transformation.

In 2014, she led product design and international sales teams to independently develop high-end power banks, successfully entering the Apple Store distribution systems across more than 20 countries in Europe, the U.S., and Asia. This milestone shifted the company from a trading model to one combining in-house R&D with brand output.

Technology and Certification: Passports to the Global Market

Under Cheng’s leadership, the company achieved multiple international recognitions:

  • Became a global MFi-authorized manufacturer for Apple in 2016

  • In August 2025, became the 21st company worldwide authorized by Qualcomm for QC2.0 fast-charging technology

  • Provided wireless charging design and supply for the launch of the Note20 by Samsung in 2020

  • In 2021, became the China general agent for consumer electronics, automotive products, and portable energy storage of Shell, managing supply chains across 18 Asia-Pacific markets

“Technical certifications are not just thresholds — they are systematic validation of R&D strength and quality systems,” she emphasized.

In 2017, Cheng was interviewed by BBC at the IFA exhibition in Berlin, and in June 2022 she gave an interview to CCTV-2 at the Global Sources Expo in Shanghai, showcasing the international profile of Chinese new-energy enterprises.

Transition to New Energy: Seizing the Energy Transformation

Despite strong achievements in consumer electronics, Cheng began planning a shift toward new energy as early as 2018.

“Batteries are foundational technology, but energy transition is the long-term trend. Residential and commercial energy storage will be key global growth areas,” she said.

Today, Guangying New Energy’s business spans international trade, battery technology, consumer electronics, and residential as well as commercial & industrial energy storage product development. As CEO, Cheng oversees overall strategy, coordinates the executive team, expands global channels, leads key appointments and resource allocation, and represents the company in partnerships, investments, and brand development to ensure execution of major decisions.

Innovation Achievements and Global Exhibition Footprint

In innovation, Cheng has led the company to secure two registered trademark patents and eight utility model patents, now widely applied across the industry.

Over the past 18 years, she has led or participated in nearly 100 global exhibitions, including the CES in the U.S., RE+ renewable energy expo, the IFA show in Germany, Global Sources Hong Kong, São Paulo consumer electronics fairs, InterSolar Mexico, and Dubai electronics exhibitions.

Her business travel has taken her across the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ukraine, the UAE, Qatar, Mexico, and Brazil.

“Every exhibition is a chance to converse with the world,” Cheng said. “True globalization is not just exporting products — it’s understanding energy needs and cultural contexts across markets.”

Learning and Leadership: Long-Termism in Entrepreneurship

“Business growth is a marathon. Strategic vision, team collaboration, and resource allocation determine how far a company can go.”

Cheng is a member of multiple industry organizations, including China renewable energy and electronics societies, as well as the U.S. Consumer Technology Association, maintaining close engagement with industry frontiers.

Establishing a Foothold in Southern California: A New Phase of Global Strategy

Setting up operations in Southern California marks a key milestone in Guangying’s global strategy. Cheng noted that the U.S. offers mature advantages in policy, technology innovation, and capital markets for new energy, with Southern California serving as a major clean-energy hub.

Going forward, the company will prioritize residential energy storage systems and commercial & industrial solutions in North America, while deepening collaboration with local businesses and research institutions.

“The energy revolution is a global collaboration,” Cheng concluded. “Through technological innovation and the strength of Chinese manufacturing, we hope to create long-term value for sustainable development worldwide.”

From a battery trade entrepreneur to a global new-energy strategist, Cheng Ning’s 18-year journey demonstrates that true entrepreneurship lies in evolving with the times — and finding one’s place on the global stage.
